Quick Care
Here at Mare Nova, we understand that sometimes you need to be seen quickly for an acute condition like a cold or other minor illness or injury. Usually, these don't warrant a trip to the ER or Urgent Care. We have appointments, within 24 hours, either in the clinic, via telemedicine, or even a home visit.
There are somethings that are and are not appropriate for a quick care visit. See below for conditions for which we are happy to see you. See the panel to the right for symptoms we will not see, to avoid a delay in getting you appropriate care.
Cold/Flu like symptoms
Appropriate for telemedicine as long as no ear pain or shortness of breath. Otherwise home/office visit.
Minor Injuries
Appropriate for telemedicine.
New onset stomach issues/diarrhea
Appropriate for telemedicine.
New onset muscle or joint issues
Preferred in-office or at home for physical exam. Can be appropriate for telemedicine.
Chronic headaches
Appropriate for telemedicine.
Chronic neck or back pain
Office or home visit only.
Skin lesions
Appropriate for telemedicine.
Chest Pain and/or Shortness of breath
Go to the emergency department right away. We cannot rule out heart attack, pulmonary embolism, collapsed lung, or other life threatening diagnosis.
New numbness and tingling.
Go to the emergency department right away. We cannot rule out heart attack, pulmonary embolism, collapsed lung, or other life threatening diagnosis.
Dizziness or fainting
Go the emergency department right away. There are numerous reasons for this that are life threatening and we cannot rule them out.
Sudden sharp headache or neck pain
Go to the emergency department right away. We cannot rule out stroke, aneurysm, meningitis, or other life threatening conditions.
New or sudden abdominal pain
Go the emergency department right away. There are numerous reasons for this that are life threatening and we cannot rule them out.
Diarrhea for more than 5 days.
Go the emergency department right away. This can lead to life threatening issues. There needs to imaging and blood workup to ensure effective management.
Uncontrolled
Mental Health Issue
Go the emergency department right away. You or your family member/friend will need immediate access to medications and surveillance that we cannot offer in order to keep them safe.
